I think these are two very good reasons why i am drawn to little kids...i just love them...hence the reason i want to teach kindergarten...anyway. I work at TH Lake...lifeguard. Cool. We are one of those places that has a lot of rules...but people don't understand that we have them because it keeps everyone safe so we don't have to rescue anyone...which I think is a good thing. So one of our big ones for kids is no running...you get the kids who will practically break down if you tell them not to and then there is the other end of the spectrum...the ones who wait till they are behind your stand and you cant see then the sprint for three seconds and then stop. Well today i get a first...i was walking across the bridge and a little boy probably 3 or 4 was running, he spotted me and as soon as he knew i was about to say something he swung his hands over his eyes and kept running. Like just because he couldn't see me i couldn't see him...I was laughing so hard i just let him run.
We rake the beach at 5:30 every night. It seems dumb but when kids spend the entirety of their day digging to china and when they decided that cant get there and then fill it in with water and bathe in it...well to say the least we have to get that water out of there! There is a family that comes to vacation every year They have a daughter, Kate, who is the tiniest little girl ever...with a voice to match. I had her in swimming lessons class last year and fell in love with her. Today we were raking and we could clearly see that she was not done playing. Thats fine...but just to make sure we knew she looked up at me..her face and body covered in sand and said "um...excuse me...we are not done playing yet". I think thats when i melted! So I said ok and kept moving. Some part about my job i love! Others i could live without. But its moments like these that makes it so much more worth it.
