Recent adventures

Sorry I haven't posted in a while...the last two weeks have been so full and nights have become a time to process and do little things around home and campus.  But here are some adventures from the last couple weeks!  Sorry if they seem a little scattered.
We started training, which has been so great.  Talk about being thrown into a new world and that is what I've felt like.  But in a good way.  I've learned so many new things and been told and shown more than I think I can handle for now.  Higher Education is definitely a change when you go from being in it to helping make it successful.  But I'm in love so far.  Every day we meet with our professional staff and spend the mornings talking and going over things like schedules, logistics, faith and any questions we have.  Then we go to lunch with different people on our staff, which was easily the best part of most days.
This was my lunch one day. :)

We went Rafting on friday last week, which is when I think my director saw my true colors. And I'm still here, so I'm thinking it was pretty positive.  :)  After rafting we drove the back way back home.  One thing that has been so easy to love about PA is that everything is so beautiful and green and lush.  And there is about 10 different ways to get anywhere so on one side I will never really learn how to get anywhere but every time we go somewhere I see new things!
The next day we adventured around Pittsburgh.  San Francisco is easily my favorite city but Pittsburgh is right up there with it.  There are bridges everywhere (its the city with the most bridges in the US), and the lights are just breath taking.  And the people of Pittsburgh love their city.  I definitely have more things to explore.

That is how Beaver Falls is as well.  There is so much love for their city even though it is experiencing a drastic decline in the economy, which has been happening since the steel industry left.  But the people are so welcoming and honest.  I can't wait to spend more time downtown and already love where I'm at.

There are so many things happening all at once it's hard to know how to organize all my thoughts.  But I'm loving it here so far.  And I feel incredibly welcomed and taken care of by this community.  And friendships are in their beginning form and I love the intentional time I have gotten to build them so far.  It helps me not get to home sick.  :)

Rain is inconsistent.  But every time it comes, it comes with thunder and lightening. :)

This is my new friend Porter...He's not mine to clarify but he's just so cute!

Some of our students live in houses on campus and this is one of them.  It used to be the President's house but now houses all females...the inside is exactly what you think it should be.

I had a conference this weekend and since I've been here I've gotten a lot of free things...This was one of the more exciting ones.  Official.
