Amber.

A couple weeks ago one of my residents said that the most endearing word someone can say to you is your name.  And since she said it I've been fixated on the simple thought of how much using someone's name can mean to them.

Our name is something that identifies us as one person.  We connect with it, we respond to it, we use it in important things.  Our name signifies a little bit of who we are.  When someone says to me "Amber, ....."  I immediately feel connected to whatever they are saying.  Or when someone gives a remark or compliment and my name is at the beginning or ending it means so much more to who I am then if it were just a general statement.  You feel recognized and appreciated in some way.  Like someone out there knows you just a little bit or wants to know you.

Such a funny thought but I like it and it can stay on the shelf in my head of funny things that I've once thought about and maybe I'll remember to use people's names more often.

Completely agree.
Names are oh so powerful.
There's something personal and intimate about being addressed by name.

Good stuff!
