Appreciation for good stories.

Today I was sitting in starbucks and I heard a story from a friend that really made me think. This friend has a uncle who works with men in prison and he wrote a devotional book for the inmates that he works with. Somehow those devotionals got to Rwanda prisons and they contacted him and said they would like copies for them, translated so they could give them to the inmates. But the catch is that it would cost 20 thousand dollars to do. After looking for funds and coming up with no supporters this man decided to sell some of his most prized possessions for money. This particular gentlemen happen to love cigars. He took 24 of his best boxes of cigars and sold them for a total of 25,000 dollars. In the process of deciding to do this he realized that they are just possessions and they are literally just going to turn to dust.
Also today I went to the park with some of my best girlfriends. We sat in the sun and had a pick-nic and took a nap together. We took pictures and swung on the swings. We laughed and took a break from our studying and school. We relaxed together in good company.
Hearing the first story made me realized that material possessions are not nearly as important as doing what God desires for our lives. That relationships and investing time in people is what we are hear for and material possessions are worth nothing compared to that.
